Aged Mandarin Puerh
Produced in 2017 with 15-year-old Puerh tea, this popular Puerh collectable is crafted with small mandarins that are hollowed out by hand, then filled with Puerh tea. The tea-filled mandarins are wrapped, allowing the tea to age and absorb some of the fruitiness. These special mandarins are grown in the Xin Hui area of China's Guangdong province. The peels of these mandarins are known as “Chen Pi” (or aged peels) and are collected and aged for use as a spice and for medicinal purposes. The mandarin peels become more fragrant and flavorful as they age; they also increase in value. The combination of Puerh and "Chen Pi" has been popular for many years, and we are very proud to be able to offer this exceptional example. The bright, yet earthy flavor and texture of this tea is so extraordinary that we are frankly at a lost for words to explain and describe it. We think the best way to explain this tea is by taking a sip, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
GROWING REGION
Yunnan, China: With abundant rainfall, mild climate, and fertile land, Yunnan Province has ideal conditions for tea cultivation and is known as the historical birthplace of medicinal teas.
BREWING INSTRUCTIONS
As usual, we would encourage you to experiment and use methods that work best for you. Since this is a more unusual tea, we would like to share some methods that have worked for us: 1. Once the Mandarin Puerh tea is unwrapped, you will discover that there’s a small “lid” made of mandarin peel that still attached. Remove the li, infuse the entire mandarin with near-boiling water and enjoy! This method is meant for people who want to sip this tea all day—because it will last that long! 2. Gently break apart the mandarin into small-sized pieces and use the appropriate amount of tea per serving, adding more tea or mandarin peel to adjust the flavor. Always adjust quantity of leaves, infusion time, and water temperature according to your personal preferences.
