Each regional tea offers diverse sensations from the same basic plant. Some flavors develop from weather and soil, and some from production variations. Hunan is better known for its hot peppery cooking, but tea has yet to distinguish itself from other regions. This tea surprised me. It possessed a bright clean flavor with warm undertones. Perhaps I should have expected the warmth, as its appearance was similar to Golden Monkey - - a combination of light brown mixed with deep browns in a silky blend. While not as powerful a taste and scent as the Golden Monkey, it is a refreshing black tea that can stand on its own.

I found 2-1/2 tsp. at 190 degrees F for 2 minutes to be just right.

I think it smells something like the Aged Hong Mei Mao Feng - like plums - even when dry, but more so when slightly dampened.

I agree with Roy's description: sweet, mild caramel flavor. Delicious.
