Imperial Peony Gaiwan
The Imperial Peony Gaiwan, with its lavishly painted peony flowers, representing prosperity and good fortune. The design floats on a brilliant royal yellow background. It has always been the most popular pieces in our set of six Imperial Gaiwans. After years of being frustrated with searching for meaningful as well as functional teaware, the three years required to design, perfect and commission a production large enough for "The Court", we consider the investment well worth it when our customers continue to request these designs year-after-year.
With a bowl perfectly nested into the base and a precisely fitted lid, this is an elegant vessel and an excellent example of the Chinese art and history of tea.
Capacity: 5 oz (147 ml).
